Costs

Monthly vs quarterly pest control cost 2026

Monthly pest control typically costs $40–$70 per visit in 2026, about $480–$840 a year. Quarterly later visits are usually $100–$175, about $450–$825 a year once you add the first visit.

Use monthly when bait still needs checking, or when the yard stays busy in winter. Use quarterly when the house is quiet and an outside spray each season is enough. Typical US ranges, not a bid.

Termites identification and treatment cost

Most whole-home termite jobs in the US land between about $1,500 and $3,500. Tent fumigation and large drywood jobs can run much higher.

Structural termite treatment is usually a licensed job. DIY kits are mainly for monitoring and prevention, not for replacing a barrier or fumigation.

Typical US range, not a bid.

The monthly stop is someone coming back often to check bait and traps. The quarterly stop is usually an outside spray each season, plus a call if a listed pest shows up in between. The first visit is the heavy one.

Write both stickers out for a year before you sign. Run a written paper through the quote checker or size a pest in the cost calculator.

Price the year, not the visit

PlanTypical US rangeYear math
One-time general visit$100–$300One trip. Short or no callback.
First / clean-out visit$150–$300Inspection, knock-down, first outside spray. Later stops are shorter.
Quarterly$100–$175 per later visitFirst visit plus three later stops often lands near $450–$825 a year. Some companies quote $400–$700 once the first day is rolled in.

Add the first-day fee to the rest of the year. If later visits cost the same as day one, ask why.

What a quarterly visit is buying

You pay to redo the outside spray when the season changes, and for a callback if a listed pest walks in between dates. Spring ants, summer wasps, fall mice at the sill. Four well-timed trips can cover a quiet house that is still in winter.

The spray on siding and soil lasts weeks. Rain, sprinklers, and sun wear it down. A “90-day barrier” on a sales sheet is a calendar. Ask what they put down, and what weather does to it.

EPA starts with a name for the pest, then a treatment. How often they come should follow what you still see, not a default route.

Quarterly is a poor fit while German cockroaches are still in the kitchen or mice are still in the ceiling. Those jobs need a short return first. Then you can drop to a plan. See cockroach exterminator cost.

When monthly is the right job

Monthly is for yards and kitchens where three months is too long, or where the work is bait and monitors, not an outside spray:

  • Gulf and Deep South yards that stay active in winter
  • A restaurant, daycare, or other site that cannot tolerate pests
  • An active German or rodent job that still needs bait checks
  • A house against woods, water, or a dumpster alley

UF/IFAS treats kitchen Germans as a bait-and-monitor job. Spray-only is the weak path. A monthly stop that only sprays the toe-kick is still the wrong job.

If they recommend monthly to everyone, ask which pest in this house needs that. A newer home in a dry, cool market often does not.

Yard mosquitoes are a different calendar: one spray vs a season of repeats. That math is on mosquito treatment cost.

What the contract has to name

Covered pests. Termites, bed bugs, wildlife, and mosquitoes are usually extra.

Whether a normal stop goes inside. Some quarterly visits never go past the door unless you call.

Free return visits between stops, which pests they cover, and what voids them (you skipped prep, you moved the monitors).

Cancel terms: 30 days vs an early-termination fee. Whether the rate can jump at renewal.

Add the first visit plus the year. Then read the paper: pest, method, rooms, return rule. Contact if you want a referral path.
